The collection contains the papers of Henry Eastman Bennett from 1892 to 1922. The papers include correspondence, speeches, documents, photographs, and news clippings related to Bennett's career as an educator in Florida. It also contains correspondence and business records between Bennett and his co-author, Caroline E. Brevard and their publisher, American Book Company, in regards to the publication of "History and Civil Government of Florida" in 1904.

Henry Eastman Bennett was born in Buffalo, New York in 1873. He received his degrees from Peabody Normal College and the University of Chicago. From 1891 to 1906, Bennett held various teaching and administrative positions in the public schools and colleges in Florida, including being Dean of the Normal Dept. at the University of Florida.
